OUR STORY

Hailing from Harwich, Massachusetts, band members Matt Veary, Owen Van Sickle, and brothers Jake and Josh Poitras formed The Placeholders in the summer of 2016 while attending Monomoy Regional High School.

With Matt and Jake growing up playing golf and baseball together and Josh tagging along, they became great friends, and eventually became close with Owen when they all competed on the high school golf and baseball teams together.

As all four boys also participated in the school band and the jazz band at the same time, their combined passions for music grew, and their previously-established friendships paved the way for an opportunity to take their involvement with music in a different direction.

Since they all grew up listening to a wide variety of music with heavy Classic Rock influence, their library of covers includes an extensive list of favorites from the 60's through today.

Under the management of Vince Veary, a Cape Cod native and audio expert, The Placeholders have spent the last four years honing their on-stage sound to deliver entertaining, memorable performances at venues all over Cape Cod.

Now, all four boys attend colleges and universities in Massachusetts (Holy Cross, Northeastern, Worcester State, and UMass Amherst), where their studies include jazz composition, music psychology, and music recording.
